Mongolian Sauce
This is served at Microsoft Cafe 16. Created by Chef David Hernandez.
Ingredients
Sauce
- 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon of Gochujang
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/4 cup kikkoman soy saue
- 1/3 cup mirin
- 5 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon red chili flakes
- 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
- 1.5 teaspoon sesame oil
Thickening Agent
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1.5 teaspoon corn starch
Directions
- In a sauce pan on medium heat, add sesame oil, garlic and chili flakes. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Add gochujang and brown sugar. Cook until sugar has dissolved
- Add mirin, soy sauce and water. Bring to a simmer
- In a separate bowl, combine water and cornstarch to make thickening slurry
- Add slurry to the sauce and stir until the sauce thickens
Use as quick marinade or drizzle on anything! It's great!
