Mongolian Sauce

This is served at Microsoft Cafe 16. Created by Chef David Hernandez.

Ingredients

Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon of Gochujang
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup kikkoman soy saue
  • 1/3 cup mirin
  • 5 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
  • 1.5 teaspoon sesame oil

Thickening Agent

  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1.5 teaspoon corn starch

Directions

  • In a sauce pan on medium heat, add sesame oil, garlic and chili flakes. Cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add gochujang and brown sugar. Cook until sugar has dissolved
  • Add mirin, soy sauce and water. Bring to a simmer
  • In a separate bowl, combine water and cornstarch to make thickening slurry
  • Add slurry to the sauce and stir until the sauce thickens

Use as quick marinade or drizzle on anything! It's great!
