Ham and Cheese Onion Pizza Deliciousness
Ingredients
- Pizza dough (used Sally's Baking Addiction recipe, only use 2/3 of the dough)
- 8oz smoked ham, sliced
- 1 large onion, caramelized
- 1 cup Havarti
- 1 cup smoked gouda
- 1/2 cup sharp cheddar
- 8 tbsps unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tbsps brown sugar
- 1 heaping tbsp dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- fresh crack pepper
Instructions
- Preheat 350F, line or grease a 9x13 baking dish
- Roll out pizza dough into a large rectangle, roughly 13x8"
- Cover the dough completely with sliced ham, then the cheese, and caramelized onions
- Tightly roll the dough as you would a cinnamon roll
- Cut the roll into 12 equal-sized pieces using a serrated knife. Place each cut roll into the prepared dish.
- Whisk together melted butter, dijon mustard, brown sugar, garlic powder, black pepper, & Worcestershire together. Brush mixture over rolls with a pastry brush
- Bake for 23-30 mins or until golden brown
Notes
I recommend shredding your cheese instead of using sliced cheese. It was difficult to get neatly formed rolls because of the sliced cheese.
The caramelized onions + the brown sugar add quite a bit of sweetness to this dish, be mindful if using honey ham. Or opt out of the brown sugar Add a tablespoon of poppy seeds to the butter/mustard mixture, I had none.
Puff pastry & crescent roll dough would also be great in place of pizza dough.
If working in a warm kitchen, either assemble or transfer the roll onto a cookie sheet and place it in the fridge for 20-30 mins before slicing.
