Horchata
Ingredients
- 1 cup long grain rice
- 2 whole cinnamon sticks
- 1 star anise (2 for stronger taste)
- 1/4 cup fresh almonds (sliced)
- 2 cup water
- 1/2 can sweetened condensed milk (can in video is 14oz, so 7oz)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp Vanilla extract
- 2 cup whole milk
Instructions
- Combine rice, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and almost and toast them (oven or fire, /shrug)
- Combine the toasted ingredients with 2 cups water
- let stand for 6 hours
- To a blender, add:
- the combined water + toasted ingredients
- 1/2 can condensed milk
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- Blend! Then strain out the biggest pieces with a rice strainer
- Add 1 more cup of whole milk for creamy, 1 cup of water if you don't
- Serve over ice garnished with cinnamon stick!
